New World International School - Mission Statement

counting

At New World International School, we believe that children can learn when they are loved and encouraged in a safe, cozy and fun environment. Teachers need to treat each child as an individual with his or her individual personality and development style. Using a variety of styles of teaching, we will be able to cater to all learning styles and respect the differences in your child. Adults and children who receive respect are also able to give it. Children who respect themselves and have good self-esteem will enjoy learning, be proud of themselves and will learn to respect others.

Children achieve much of their early learning through play. The physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of a child is dependent upon activity. Therefore, an important part of the NWIS program is giving our students the opportunity to play. Our program follows this natural approach to learning and builds upon it. Through touching, manipulating, exploring and testing, children find out about the world around them. By interacting with other children and adults, they find out about themselves and their relationship to others. Through play, children imitate adults and experiment with what it means to be a mother, a policeman, a teacher, a doctor and so on. Through play, they learn how to solve problems and work cooperatively with others. Play will be the central element of NWIS curriculum, especially for our younger preschool students.

Another major element at NWIS will be our English curriculum. In this curriculum, songs and stories and rhymes are the main factor. Songs, chants and rhymes expose students to the natural rhythm of English. Just as young babies learn the rhythm of their mother tongue first, NWIS students will learn English the same way. Vocabulary practice will be part of the daily routine as well as focused short reviews of full sentence structures. This blend of fun, physical, high energy songs/chants and focused language review plus the constant English exposure throughout the day, will give your child the best foundation for learning a second language.
